6.  Student Visa Application to Malaysia

Inbound exchange students are required to have an entry visa and a student pass before entering Malaysia to study. The Dept of International Student Services (DISS) at UTAR will assist in applying for these documents and applicants will be informed prior to their departure for Malaysia.

The student pass applications are processed through Education Malaysia Global Service (EMGS) which is the official government portal for international students applying to study in Malaysia and is wholly owned by the Ministry of Higher Education.  EMGS is the only approved gateway for students who want to study in Malaysia.

The documents which meet the requirement will be submitted to the immigration of Malaysia in order to issue the Visa Approval Letter (VAL). Once the required documents submit to EMGSall discretionary decisions made are subject to the authorities. After UTAR receive the VAL, a copy of the VAL will be sent to the applicant and the applicant is required to apply for Single/Multiple Entry Visa at Malaysia embassy in their home country.

The prevailing immigration charges including the security bond imposed by the Malaysian Immigration Department will be borne by applicants. The Security bond deposit will be refunded after expiry or cancellation of the student visa provided there are no other claims against the applicant upon completion of study/stay at UTAR.

7.  International applicants on internships less than a period of 3 months may not need to apply for a student pass/visa. Please contact DCInterNet office for confirmation.
