Datuk Seri Dr. Ling Liong Sik said that contributions towards the setting up of UTAR are coming from people of all races and walks of life.

He said almost every night or at least thrice a week, fund raising dinners were being held nationwide to collect funds for UTAR. Thus far, MCA has managed to collect RM173mil for UTAR.

He added that the setting up of UTAR was a big challenge to everyone, similar to that of the Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman, which started from naught. Today KTAR has successfully educated over 100,000 students all over the country.
