Indians from all walks of life, from young children and teenagers to elderly people, lined up to give their contributions to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) at a cultural show organized by the Indian Progressive Front (IPF) at Mint Hotel.

The people, mainly from the poor, handed over a total of RM14,308.85 in coins and notes to Dr Ling Liong Sik, who was the guest-of-honour at the event.

Some children even handed over their piggy banks to Dr Ling for a worthy cause.

Dr Ling said even though IPF could not contribute much, what was important was their wish to contribute to education.
