The war in Iraq and the outbreak of SARS had failed to put a damper on the UTAR fund-raising campaign.

"The people help us raise the money, the people help us build the university, it's the people's university," said Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik during the launch of the nationwide Support UTAR T-shirt campaign.

The initial batch of 8,000 T-shirts costing RM50 each had been sold since its launching and more would be printed as long as there was demand.
