Perak and Guangxi province enhance relationship

TIES between Perak and China's Guangxi province is set to get 'warmer' with plans for the two to become sister states.

Perak state executive councillor Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said there were many areas in which the two states could co-operate.

"Guangxi investors are welcome to invest in Perak in areas they are advanced in such as mining, herbal medicine industry and heavy machinery.

"There could also be teachers' exchange programmes where Guangxi's linguistic teachers could teach at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)," he said.

Dr Mah was speaking to reporters in Ipoh yesterday after receiving a delegation from the province.

Guangxi, he said, held enormous opportunities for investors due to its population of over 50 million people.

The visit by the delegation, added Dr Mah, was a follow-up visit by Guangxi Television two months ago to film Ipoh's food and the locals' way of life.
