Huge Response To Emblem Contest

UTAR emblem design competition has received overwhelming response from aspiring designers.

According to a spokesman from the UTAR Steering Committee, it has so far received 275 entries since its launch on 18 October 2001.

The first prize is RM 8,000, the second prize is RM 5,000 and the third prize is RM 3,000. There will be four consolation prizes of RM 500 each.

All the major newspapers in the country are cooperating to help UTAR find an emblem which will reflect its aspirations and objectives. The newspapers - The Star, New Straits Times, The Sun, Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, Sin Chew Jit Poh, Nanyang Siang Pau, China Press, Guang Ming, Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Tamil Nesan and Malaysia Nanban - will carry the entry forms.

The contest is open to all Malaysians or permanent residents of Malaysia, except employees of the newspaper publications and their immediate family members.

The results will be published in the major newspapers on 9 January 2002.

The closing date for entries is at 5.00 pm on 26 November 2001.
