The Star
UTAR Fees Will Be Affordable, says Ling
Dato' Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said that:
-
Initial fees to be imposed by University Tunku Abdul Rahman
(UTAR) would be affordable to enable parents to send their
children there for higher education.
-
This was made possible because renovation works for its temporary campus at the
Star's former headquarters in Petaling
Jaya would be minimal.
-
By ensuring minimal initial expenditure, the students would benefit as the fees
imposed need only be sufficient to cover operating costs.
-
He was confident the new university would enjoy a success similar
to TARC's and thus help the Government achieve its plan to make Malaysia a centre for
academic excellence.
-
UTAR would provide an avenue for students from the 60 Chinese
independent schools nationwide to obtain tertiary education and admission standards
would be based on meritocracy.
