UTAR TREKATHON 2008

This year's Trekathon at Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya was held on 9 November 2008 and drew strong response from over 200 young men and women.

For the first time, students from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia and Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman were invited to join UTAR students and alumni in the annual sports event.

Chee Kye Rick from UTAR's Perak Campus won in the UTAR Championship (closed) men's category. He took 25 minutes 48 seconds to complete the run.

Chong Sook Chee, also from Perak Campus, clocked in 34 minutes 7 seconds to emerge as the UTAR champion (closed), women's category.

UTAR's Perak Campus emerged as the overall champion (closed) followed by the Faculty of Accountancy & Management, and the Centre for Foundation Studies.

Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia won the UTAR Open championships for both the men's and women's categories. Syamimul won in the women's open category, clocking in at 40 minutes 32 seconds. UPNM made a clean sweep of all the first three placings in the men's open category, with Mohamad Khairul Shawuan emerging as the champion.

The Trekathon was aimed at fostering closer ties among the students and also to serve as a platform for students from various campuses to interact with each other.

It was jointly organised by the UTAR Department of Student Affairs with the assistance of UTAR Student Sports Club, Askar Wataniah and First Aid Society.
