UTAR Alumnus, a Dazzling Star to Be

A 13-year old girl won the attention of the hall when she dazzled in a singing contest and received high appraisal from the renowned Taiwanese singer, A-Mei for her expressive and touching performance. Thirteen year's later, she emerged as a new songwriter, singer and television host in Malaysia. She is a UTAR alumnus. Her name is Yisé, Loo Ee Ser.

Yisé joined UTAR and took up Journalism in year 2003. As an ardent music lover, she was actively involved in song-writing while studying for her degree course in UTAR. Occasionally, she would perform in a local café circuit, where she was introduced to a well known producer- Abraham Tee.

Yisé's talents in singing was first spotted when she won first prize in the singing competition organized by YAMAHA at the age of ten. Prize she won was a trial music class voucher. This was her first encounter with musical instruments and she took up electric piano classes for eight years since then. Along the way, she competed in numerous singing contests and she was always in the top three under. She was judge by renowned figures in the industry, like Ronald Cheng (Hong Kong artists), Gao Hui Jun (Taiwan artists) and Lin Men Yang (Taiwan Producer).




After graduating from UTAR, Yisé was scouted as a singer - songwriter by Mobimusic which was set up by Abraham Tee. In the same year, she became the host for a local Television Station (RTM 2)'s entertainment program, 'Asian New Force', and subsequently joined 8TV as a trainee.

Yisé gained further exposure in the industry as a trainee and her job scope involved script-writing, doing interviews, voice-over recording and OFFLINE visual editing. Due to these rich experiences - from singing competition to working in a local TV station; from singing, writing songs, hosting to acting - she became a talented artiste cum song writer. Her compositions include 'Wo De Jia' (My House) sang by Lin Yu Chong, 'Xi Wang' (Hope) sang by Nicholas Teo , 'Xue Hui' (Learnt) sang by Zhou Hui and many more. When asked about her inspirations in writing songs, she said that her songs are portrayals of her colorful nature. All her composition has a unique sense of her personality and creativity as well as her rather fun and diverse facets.

After her first debut album < Yisé, The Album Akin> which was released in 11th Dec 2007, Yisé is now preparing for even greater success with her upcoming album. She plans to venture into China, Taiwan, and Singapore's music market. UTAR wishes her utmost success in her career she will be the next bright star vying for Asia's attention.
