I = Interviewer KH = Kock Hui

I: What motivated you to study in UTAR?

KH: It's my elder sister who encouraged me to study at UTAR. She told me that UTAR is a conducive place to study in and is a convenient location for me. Besides, the course fees are more affordable as compared to other private universities.

I: So, did you mean that your sister was the person who influenced you the most in making your decision to join UTAR?

KH: Yes, you're right. She is familiar with the University and has many good things to say about it.

I: What course did you take in UTAR? What do you think about it?

KH: I took Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) Accounting when I was in UTAR. In my opinion, this course suits any student interested in business because it covers many subjects related to Business and Economic. Exposure to these subjects allows one to gain practice and knowledge relevant for your real working life. There are many job options for an Accounting student who would like to work in the commercial line. Moreover, accounting students can always choose to further their studies in professional courses such as ACCA and CIMA.

I: What did you learn while studying at UTAR besides academic knowledge?

KH: My leadership and management skills were honed through group activities and assignments given then. I was also made to realize that co-operation with each group member and group planning are important tasks that could not be taken lightly especially when it comes to group work.

Besides, I also learned how to socialize with others and to be independent. In addition to that, I developed my presentation skill which is important for us to give talks or to deal with our supervisors and customers. These skills are really important in my working life and help to boost up my confidence while presenting to others.

I: Can you please describe your current job?

KH: Currently, I am working as an Account Executive at Genting International Services Sdn Bhd. My main job scope is to analyze, audit and prepare financial statements and performance reports for casino clubs.

I: Did you or would you encourage your other siblings to join UTAR as well? Why?

KH: Yes, definitely. As a UTAR graduate, I had experienced a wonderful student life while studying at the university. The conducive environment, the facilities and services offered are beneficial for our students. Therefore, I would encourage my siblings to join UTAR in future.
