When I first visited UTAR (Kampar) in March 2008 during its ?Open Day? session, I was very impressed by the place - a serene environment with beautiful scenery. After a few surveys which revealed reasonable accommodation costs, shops within walking distance and good housing security, I decided to pursue my undergraduate studies there. The place seemed conducive for learning.

I commenced my undergraduate course in June 2008 and rented a room under the housing scheme which situated about a 5-minute drive away from the campus. I was one of the earliest two tenants of that 12-bedroom house and occupied it (for about a week) before others started to move in.

Pursuing my education here was one of the best times in my life. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience with helpful and friendly lecturers around. Class discussions and presentations made the experience even more valuable. My classmates were friendly and many of us participated actively in class activities which made learning more fun.

Besides academic study, my active participation in societies and soft skills programs such as "Blue Ocean Strategy",  "Thinking Out of the Box" etc made me a more well-rounded person under the holistic education. This indeed helped me a lot in dealing with the real world.

I think I am lucky not only because I had great classmates but awesome housemates as well. Occasionally, we would have teh-tarik sessions at night, sometimes until 1 or 2am if we did not have morning classes the following day. There were a variety of nice and reasonably priced foods in Kampar.

Besides, we also always went for enjoyable outstation trips together. I could still recall a late evening trip with my classmates to a nearby town, Teluk Intan just for the famous delicacy, "chee cheong fun" located next to the landmark learning tower of Teluk Intan. Then there was also another trip to Penang where we visited various tourist spots and enjoyed the mouth-watering food.

Before I knew it, I had completed my studies last year and had my graduation in March 2011. Now, I've ventured into the working world for 3 months! How time flies! Looking back, I am glad with my decision to pursue my higher education in UTAR. There lie my fond memories, in UTAR, Kampar.
