Ideal career opportunities to grab!

In its aspiration to ensure high employability rate for its graduating students, UTAR held a Career Fair 2011 on 27-28 July 2011 and 4 August 2011 for its 3000 students from the Perak and Setapak campus.

From the highly acclaimed Big Four and Deloitte, to multinational corporations like OCBC, Prudential, Jobstreet.com, Murata Electronics, PWC Malaysia, Sunrise, Brunsfield Engineering and many more, UTAR students without doubt had their dream career at their door steps during these two days.

91 well known multinational companies enveloped the streams of incoming students with information on career opportunities in their prestigious companies. Students were approached with one-to-one dialogues, interviews and survey registration. Additional sought-after-topics such as resume writing, interview skills, elaboration on company backgrounds and so on were made available through several attention-grabbing Career Talks by the companies? elite themselves.

"I find that the fair was a convenient method for the students to obtain internship opportunities instead of having them to meet the company at their premises. Students have more time to prepare themselves to attend the interview," said Lee Xiao An, a Financial Economics student.

Differing from standard interview practices, companies spontaneously interviewed the students on their resume with the hope to bring aboard a new comrade of fresh graduates into their companies. This was evidenced with the interview booths being constantly occupied, reflecting the high probabilities of someone walking away with an ideal offer.

"Overall it was a great fair for the students as some were actively asking questions about their future career opportunity", commented a representative from Great Pro Zone.

Such admirable career fair could be materialized thanks to the Department of Alumni Relations and Placement which organizes Career Fair twice a year as a measure to link the students with their desired career even before they graduated from UTAR, thus making the UTAR grads a choice of the companies!
