Tea Meeting with President

The 'Tea Meeting with the President' at the Perak campus and the Petaling Jaya campus ended with high-spirit as 290 students from both campuses were imparted with tonnes of information on ideal career selections, challenges in securing a job and the interview skills by UTAR President, Engr. Prof Academician Dato' Dr. Chuah Hean Teik on 14 and 16 November 2011.

 

He highlighted that companies are inclined to engage new recruits who are ethical and with good personalities, confident and possess strong communication skills. Furthermore, with the realistic experience acquired during their industry training, their integration into the working world would be easier.

 

Employing power point presentation, Prof Chuah said that to become a good subordinate, the students must cherish team work and constantly look out for one another. Do not lose sight of the company goals he further remarked.

 

According to Prof Chuah, students must be competent and ever ready to out-perform other colleagues, hence, mastering English and cultural proficiency will undoubtedly be an advantage to them. He then proceeded to elaborate on the interview skills as the primary factor of securing an employment.

 

Elaborating on the services and activities organized by the Department of Alumni Relations and Placement, Ms. Sum Kwai Seong described the general information on Career Fair, Post Graduate Studies and the Alumni Liaison Representatives and Alumni Association. The Head of department went to great lengths to describe the various aspects of convocation.

 

The organizer, Department of Alumni Relations and Placement took delight in imparting the students with the first hand information as they draw closer to their anticipated graduation in December 2012.
