Alumni Liaison Representatives Gathering (23 March 2012)

Alumni Liaison Representatives Gathering held on 23rd March 2012 at UTAR PJ Campus were warmly welcomed by Miss Sum, the head of Department of Alumni Relations and Placement. ALRs are appointed to represent alumni and to support UTAR through volunteer participation in a variety of University events and activities. Their role is to contact and encourage other alumni to participate in alumni activities and to form a link with the alma mater.

The purpose of this gathering is to update Alumni Liaison Representatives about the latest development of their beloved alma mater and the activities organized by DARP to help in UTAR development, for example, Alumni Homecoming Charity Dinner 2012. There are 15 ALR attended and light dinner was served before the meeting.

In her welcoming notes, Ms. Sum highlighted the importance of forging the relation between alumni and their alma mater. She reminded the Alumni Liaison Representatives that besides helping in bridging alumni and UTAR, they also bore the great responsibilities to pass the good traditions to their juniors and to promote the good name of UTAR.

Besides, Ms. Sum updated Alumni Liaison Representatives about the objective and details of Alumni Homecoming Charity Dinner 2012. The dinner is not only for welcoming alumni back to their alma mater to have fun, but also to help UTAR in raising fund. The proceeds of charity dinner will go to five categories which include building fund for Perak and Sungai Long campuses, student loans, student scholarship fund, general donation fund, research and development fund. Ms. Sum also explained the sponsorships package to the Alumni Liaison Representatives and encouraged them to get sponsorship for their alma mater.

Before the end of the event, some Alumni Liaison Representatives made the payment to the assistant manager in charge to secure their seats in the Alumni Charity Dinner 2012.
