Ooi Yi Khuan

Greetings to all UTAR students,

I am Ooi Yi Khuan, currently working in Public Mutual Berhad as Unit Trust Consultant- Agency Supervisor.

I have fulfilled all the requirements as prescribed by the University for the UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate with distinction grade. UTAR Soft Skills has helped me a lot when I am in the society. What I have learned from Soft skills programs have helped me a lot during my interview for my job. Not only that - I learnt to communicate well with my clients as well as my associates as a result of the Soft Skills trainings.

Trust is the most important aspect in the financial industry. That is the reason why we must learn to have moral and professional ethics during work.  I have gained trust from my subordinates as well as my clients so that we can maintain good relationship with one another.

There are total of seven components of soft skills that need to be achieve, which is Communication & language skills, critical thinking, creative thinking and problem solving skills, Emotional Intelligence and Teamwork Skills, Moral and Professional Ethics, Leadership Skills, Lifelong Learning & Information Management, and Entrepreneurship Skills.

All these are essential skills that will prepare your road towards the society. Students are encouraged to attend soft skills program to build up their people oriented skills.

Thank you UTAR and Happy 10th Anniversary.
