UTAR, my choice!

UTAR my choice! is a slogan that is very close to my heart always. For most Malaysians Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is just a mere higher educational institution. However for me, UTAR is a place that not only educate students but also a place that nurtures values of life.

Graduated in 2011, I would say UTAR has changed me tremendously both academically and personally. I finished my secondary education in 2006 with an intention not to further my studies to tertiary level due to poor performance. It was my aunty who persuaded me to further my studies after much surveys and consultancies that she made with consultants from KTAR and UTAR. That was when we get to know that I can actually do my diploma in KTAR before entering UTAR to enroll my bachelor's degree.

However I failed to do my best during my diploma , and only manage to pass my subjects after several attempts. Somehow I successfully completed my diploma in February 2009 and finally graduated from KTAR. Although my result was pretty bad this time around I did not feel down or disappointed as the only thing that crossed my mind that time was to pursue my Bachelor's degree in UTAR. The fact that I was finally eligible to enroll a degree program in UTAR lifted up my spirit.

1^st June 2009 was my first day in UTAR. Fortunately the very first impression that UTAR gave me was a pleasant one. All the staff here were friendly, the environment was very conducive hence gave me a better feel of campus life. When it came to studies, I was still an average performer. Whenever examinations approached, I felt not confidence with myself as I couldn't fully comprehend what has been taught by my lecturers. I felt so down and depressed that I almost gave up my studies.

This period of time was when I appreciated my lecturers the most. I was very impressed of how kind they were, during and also outside classrooms. I really would give thumbs up to UTAR for recruiting lecturers with the best of quality. There a lot of good lecturers who helped me like Ms. Ng Chee Hung, Ms. Koay Ying Yin, Mr. Chong Tun Pin, Encik Mior, Puan Azizah, Mr.Ong Hock Siong from the Faculty of Business and Finance. Whenever I had trouble in studies and in my personal life, they never failed to guide me to the right direction regardless of time or day.

I also meet a lot of nice friends like Mandy How Gee Mun, Wong Jia Hou, Khor Mei Ting and Kee Siew Chin. Although we came from difference states but we were able to understand each other, learn from each other and motivate each other. We helped each other in studies as well to ensure we all do well in our examinations.

Besides that, I appreciate UTAR's effort to provide such a conducive environment and adequate facilities for the students. The university has never fail to update facilities such as the UTAR library online database which helped me a great deal during the time I conducted my research projects. Through the database I managed to get a lot of information, journals, data and ideas without spending even a single cent. The bus service provided by the university was helpful too for those students who had to travel and had no proper transportation.

I enjoyed my life to the most during my university years as the place gave me a lot of wonderful memories to cherish. The memories were not only regarding my academics but also with my lecturers and dear friends. Today, I graduated from UTAR with a second upper division Bachelor's degree and for that I would like to say thank you to my respected lecturers, lovely friends, and also UTAR.

Once again thank you UTAR. I believe UTAR is not only my choice but also would be the best choice for all the students out there who wish to further their studies in a best environment with affordable fees.
