Another postgraduate studies workshop held

UTAR Department of Alumni Relations and Placement regularly organises postgraduate studies workshop for soon graduating final-year students to learn about the prospects of further studies locally as well as overseas.

The postgraduate studies workshop for students graduating in the March 2014 convocation was held at Kuala Lumpur Campus for the Klang Valley students and Perak Campus on 4 and 9 July 2013 respectively. About 50 students attended the two workshops.

Invited to speak on postgraduate studies overseas were Azamira Long from Malaysian-German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Blair Daly from the Education USA Advising Center of Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE), Petronila Maurice from Australian Education Internation (AEI) and Patricia Lee from Australian Trade Commission. A special guest, Melissa Tan, an alumna of University of South Australia, was invited to share her experiences studying at Australia to the students.

Also presenting at the workshops were UTAR Vice President (R&D and Commercialisation) Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei, Dr Lee Sheng Chyan, Dr Sim Kooi Mow, Dr Lim Poh Im and Dr Leong Kar Yen. They shared their local or overseas postgraduate studies experience to the students.

The students were benefited form the workshops were clearer about what they wanted to pursue in the future. They were also awarded two points for under the Lifelong Learning category in the UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate programme.
