UTAR provides not only technical competency but also entrepreneurial skills to its students.  This was evident when UTAR Engineering alumni Gan Yu Han and Mak Kwan Wuey turned out at the gathering for alumni liaison representatives at UTAR Petaling Jaya Campus on 13 July 2013 with the 3D printed products their company produced.  Gan and Mak ventured into business together after they graduated in 2011.

UTAR Department of Alumni Relations and Placement (DARP) regularly organised gatherings for alumni liaison representatives to promote better camaraderie among alumni, current students and the alma mater.  This gathering was attended by nearly 50 alumni, current student leaders and UTAR senior management members including UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik, Vice President Dr Teh Chee Seng, Registrar Dr Tan Kee Kong, and DARP Head Sum Kwai Seong.

'Come back to the university to attend our events, meet the students and get to know each other,' said Prof Chuah, when he was invited to address the alumni.  He added, 'Have more activities together; and although we may start small, within a short period of time, our alumni base will be very strong.'  Prof Chuah also called on the alumni to be ambassadors to promote their alma mater by sharing their meaningful experiences in UTAR to others.
