An exciting tour to Jeju Island

The Department of Alumni Relations and Placement organised a five-day tour to Jeju Island from 18 to 22 May 2019. Largely participated by UTAR alumni and staff, the tour covered many different places in Jeju.

The first day of the tour included a visit to the 3D Trick Eye Museum. The 3D Trick Eye Museum is a one-of-a-kind painting gallery that combines with 2D/3D high-end technology. It consists of beautiful artworks that come with different genres like nautical, horror and fantasy for selfie lovers. Next, they visited the Famous Dragon Head Rock, followed by another visit to the Mysterious Road, also known as the Dokkaebi Road. Dokkaebi Road is one of the many connected hills scattered around the world. The downhill and uphill slopes created a beautiful optical illusion for the visitors to see.

On the second day, the visitors had the opportunity to visit the Seongsan Sunrise Peak. Formed as a result of hydrovolcanic eruptions about five thousand years ago, the Seongsan Sunrise Peak displayed the beautiful geographical features of the Jeju Island. The visitors then headed to Seongeup Folk Village which was located at Halla Mountain. The village was rich with a variety of cultures. Next, they visited the Phoenix Island Park with canola fields to see the canola flowers during the winter. The visit to Seopjikoji, a place located near the sea, was peaceful with the scenic view of the lighthouse as well as the restaurants and shops nearby. The next visit was made to Zippo Museum followed by another to Seonnyeo and Namukkun Theme Park.

Their visit, on the third day, began at the National Ginseng Gallery followed by a short trip to the Cheonjeyeon waterfall, one that is 22m high, 12m wide and 20m in depth. They also visited the O?SUlloc Tea Museum to see the exhibition of green tea. The trip continued to Sanbangsan Mountain where the visitors enjoyed fresh seafood hotplate, then to Café Monstant, a cafe run by one of the Korean pop group members called G-dragon. The trip for the day ended at Tapdong Street where they enjoyed night shopping and leisure activities.

The fourth day of the tour included visits to Oedolgae Rock, Olle Street, Teddy Bear Museum, Shilla, Jusangjeolli Cliff, Play Kpop Museum and Herbal Shop to see special skincare products. The trip for the day wrapped up with a final visit to the Nuwemoroo Shopping Street.

The last day of the tour saw the visitors trying out the Hanbok, a traditional Korean costume, during the Kimbap DIY session. The trip ended with a visit to the local shops.
