Ir. Dr. Chua Kein Huat obtained his Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (2004), Master of Engineering (Electrical Energy and Power System) degree from Universiti Malaya (2009), and Ph.D. (Engineering) degree from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)(2017).
Presently, Ir. Dr. Chua serves as an Associate Professor at the esteemed Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science, UTAR. His research endeavors primarily revolve around crucial domains such as Energy Management, Energy Audit, Carbon Accounting, Lightning Protection System, Power Quality, and Railway Electrification. Demonstrating his commitment to academia, he concurrently holds the prestigious position of Chairperson at the Center for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (CRIE) within UTAR.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ir. Dr. Chua has been actively engaged in knowledge dissemination through conducting over 220 training sessions and workshops across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea in the past 14 years. Recognized for his expertise, he is an accredited trainer by the HRDC and holds certifications as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) conferred by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) since 2016.
Ir. Dr. Chua offers consultancy services of energy management and energy auditing to assist organizations in improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Ir. Dr. Chua was appointed as an Energy Adviser by Tan Chong Motors Assemblies Sdn. Bhd., providing invaluable professional guidance to enhance their plant's energy efficiency. He also conducted energy audit for UTAR (Sungai Long campus), Hartalega (Bestari Jaya), and BJC Foods (Shah Alam).
Additionally, he has played a significant role as a committee member of the working group on Solar Photovoltaic Systems in 2019 under the Department of Standard Malaysia, offering valuable insights for the development of MS 2692:2020 Testing and Commissioning of Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System.
Ir. Dr. Chua has attended Certified Carbon Auditing Professional (CAP) training organized by The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) (Hong Kong Chapter). Currently, he is actively promoting the carbon accounting and auditing via conducting training courses and organizing events. He also offers consultancy services for carbon accounting and auditing to local organizations.
