You-How Go is an Assistant Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia. He is currently a member of the Department of Economics under Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF). He is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology. He previously served as Cluster Head of Quantitative Studies for Department Curriculum Development Committee of FBF (2015-2018). He holds a doctoral degree from Universiti Malaya, following his Master of Applied Statistics and Bachelor of Economics (Hons) at the same university.

    His pioneering research work on palm oil sustainability that places the emphasis on crude palm oil futures to a wide range of research areas related to informational efficiency and hedging effectiveness. In particular, his paper “What do we know about informational efficiency? Three puzzles and the new direction forward” was the first survey paper on informational efficiency (Journal of Economic Surveys (SSCI-Q1, ABDC-A ranked), 2023), introducing avenues to explore contentious issues in market efficiency from the perspective of price-volume and spot-futures relations. He has published journal articles in the context of crude palm oil trading that provide new insights into market efficiency and spot-futures relation. As recognized by ScholarGPS in 2024, his research work is ranked as the top 5% in Palm Oil area.

    While the prime focus of his research is on palm oil trading, he has also researched different aspects of environmental economics at both the global and regional levels. His research is largely published in mainstream economics, finance and environment journals such as: Resources Policy (SSCI-Q1), Journal of Commodity Markets (SSCI-Q1, ABDC-A ranked), Agricultural Economics (SSCI-Q3), The North American Journal of Economics and Finance (SSCI-Q2), The Journal of International Trade & Economic Development (SSCI-Q3), Environmental Science and Pollution Research (SCI & SCIE-Q2), Energy & Environment (SSCI-Q3), Journal of Futures Markets (SSCI-Q2, ABDC-A ranked), Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (SSCI-Q3), and Environment, Development and Sustainability (SCIE-Q2).

     Aside from his active research activities, he actively contributes his expertise as a journal subject editor and reviewer. For example, he was the Chair of R&D Advisory Board of Asian Entrepreneurs Academy (November 2017- November 2020). At present, he serves as one of the Associate Editors of the Capital Markets Review (2025-2026). For research grants, he has completed external grants from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). As one of collaborators, he has completed the project “New village master plan review: Categorizing new villages” under Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia in 2014 and the book project “Statistics in practice” under Universiti Malaya Research Grant (UMRG) Programme Phase in 2016. From 2018 to 2020, he has managed to complete internal grants from UTAR with the total amount of RM65,900.

    He has taught different undergraduate courses, including Quantitative Techniques, Econometrics, Times Series Analysis, Research Methods, and Malaysian Economy at THP FBF. Apart from lecturing undergraduate courses, he is assigned to teach Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods for postgraduate students. As a dedicated academia, he actively serves as an internal examiner for postgraduate research and a mentor for teaching research methods, advancing excellence in education and impactful research. For example, he has extensively used statistical packages for the teaching of quantitative research method, quantitative techniques, econometrics, and time series analysis. In addition to teaching, he has been invited to conduct the guest lectures, presentations, and PhD seminars for postgraduate students on volatility analysis, quantitative research method, and survey literature in Universiti Malaya and Swinburne University of Technology. In terms of supervision, he has successfully supervised two master students to completion. Currently, he is the life member of Malaysian Finance Association and Malaysian Economic Association.
