The Faculty of Arts and Social Science emphasises academic excellence in its programmes. Students are given a strong foundation on theories, issues and implications of recent technological developments in their areas of specialisation. The programmes are also relevant to enhancing students' understanding and appreciation of the Malaysian socio-cultural, political and economic environment and the role of their respective fields in the local and global scenario.

Additionally, the Faculty offers language and nation-building units which are appropriate and relevant to the Malaysian environment. Above all, the Faculty ensures that its students are analytical in thinking, knowledgeable in their respective field of specialisation, possess the skills and understanding that will enable them to keep abreast of future developments in their field and in technology and are well-versed in the practical application of their expertise to suit industrial needs.
