UTAR Fund-Raising Drive Enters Book Of Records
The fund-raising drive for UTAR created a milestone by entering the Malaysia Book of Records with the certificate for "The Highest Funds Raised in a Charity Golf" for collecting RM3.88mil through a charity golf tournament the day before.
Among the major contributors were Tan Chong and Sons Motor Sdn Bhd which donated RM1mil and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd which gave RM500,000.
These contributions further boosted the UTAR fund which had already reached some RM200mil.
Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also promised to turn a government hospital into a teaching hospital when UTAR sets up its medical faculty.
