UTAR's pioneer Intensive Immersion English Programme a success

The first 10-day Intensive Immersion English Programme organized by the Soft Skills Competency Unit in UTAR came to a successful close on 30 December 2005.

The pioneer 21 students, most of whom were graduating students from across the 4 faculties, even presented a sketch on the merits of co-operation as against confrontation.

In her speech at the closing ceremony, UTAR President, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ng Lay Swee, said that she was happy to learn that the students had found the programme beneficial and useful. She hoped that all the things they had learnt would serve them well in their workplace.

With this successful pilot project as a guide, UTAR is in the process of coming up with a comprehensive list of "courses to add value to the academic and professional qualifications of the students."

The Soft Skills Competency Unit is a specially set up unit to "prepare a series of programmes to enhance the soft and competive skills of the UTAR students and graduates".
