A Stirring Solidarity Address By MCA President Dato's Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik At The 48th Annual General Meeting Of The MCA, Wisma MCA, On Aug 4,2001

Dr Ling said that MCA would be setting up Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.

UTAR would be a university for all Malaysians.

It would also be non-profit making to ensure affordable fees.

UTAR would produce graduates to serve and sustain the knowledge-based economy of our country.

UTAR is expected to start with engineering, information technology, economics and management studies.

UTAR would attract overseas students to help turn Malaysia into a regional center of education.

In expanding admissions places, UTAR would nevertheless be committed to the highest academic standard.

UTAR would appoint academicians of international standing to all senior positions who would provide leadership in ensuring quality teaching, training of new staff and encouraging cutting-edge research.

MCA was confident that UTAR would succeed with the support of the Government, the community and the nation.

MCA would leave the management of the university to the academicians and administrators.
