Entry into Utar will be on merit

Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir said that the eligibility to enroll in UTAR would be based on qualifications as there would be no quota.

Dr Mahathir said that UTAR is open to all races but they must have the qualifications to enter.

Dr Mahathir said that if there were a proposal to make UTAR a public university, the matter would have to be studied in depth.

Dr. Mahathir said that the Government agreed to the setting up of UTAR in the belief that it would not be exclusively for the Chinese; other races would also have access to it.
