MCA president Datuk Seri Ling Liong Sik proved that commitment to education was of utmost importance as the party has been on a roll in organizing various projects to support the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR) fund-raising campaign.

Last night, he received a total of RM808,888 - RM508,888 from a charity performance by the China Great Wall Artiste Group from Beijing - at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA, and the balance from three companies - Tai Seng Entertainment Sdn Bhd (RM200,000), Zabima Engineering and Construction Sdn Bhd (RM50,000) and Antara Consolidated Sdn Bhd (RM50,000).

He thanked the public, whom he said were the backbone of this commitment, in ensuring the progress of UTAR. "Your support is no less than when we set up Tunku Abdul Rahman College, "he said, urging the people to rally support for the setting up of the UTAR campuses.
