Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said raising funds for UTAR will not mean neglecting responsibility towards the financial needs of Chinese independent schools.

UTAR and Chinese independent schools both need heavy funding and they turn to the community for support.

Ong said it was crucial to get UTAR up and running because it served an important need of the country with its provision of quality education at affordable fees.
