Leave Entitlements

1.0 Annual Leave
 
1.1 Staff on Regular Employment
 
Staff in regular employment shall, in addition to rest days and public holidays applicable to his place of work, be entitled to paid annual leave in respect of a full year of service as follows:
 
Category A
With less than 5 years of service    - 20 days
With 5 or more years of service      - 25 days
 
Category B, C & D
With less than 5 years of service    - 16 days
With 5 or more years of service      - 20 days
 
1.2 Staff on Contract
 
Staff in Category A shall, in addition to rest days and public holidays applicable to his place of work, be entitled to paid annual leave of 20 days in respect of a full year of service.
 
Staff in Category B, C & D, in addition to rest days and public holidays applicable to his place of work, be entitled to paid annual leave in respect of a full year of service as follows:
 
Category B
With less than 5 years of service    - 16 days
With 5 or more years of service      - 18 days
 
Category C & D
With less than 5 years of service    - 14 days
With 5 or more years of service      - 17 days
 
2.0 Sick and Hospitalisation Leave
 
2.1 Staff members shall be entitled to sick leave on certification by a Panel doctor or registered dental surgeon or in cases of emergency, any other registered medical practitioners as follows:
 
1st to 2nd year of service      -        14 working days
3rd to 5th year of service      -        18 working days
6th year and above              -        22 working days
 
2.2 Hospitalisation leave entitlement shall be 60 days in aggregate in each calendar year.
 
3.0 Maternity Leave
 
A female staff shall be entitled to paid maternity leave for a period of sixty (60) consecutive days including rest days and public holidays in respect of each confinement in accordance with the provisions in the Employment Act 1955.
 
4.0 Matrimonial/Paternity/Compassionate/Calamity Leave
 
The University may grant the matrimonial/paternity/compassionate/calamity leave with full pay to staff up to two (2) consecutive working days per occurrence in one (1) calendar year.  The leave granted are subjected to the terms and conditions stated in the HR Policies and Regulations.
 
5.0 Pilgrimage Leave
 
Confirmed staff who are Muslim and have been in continuous service for five (5) years or more may apply for pilgrimage leave up to a maximum of thirty (30) consecutive days of paid leave including rest days and public holidays. 

 

6.0 Compensation Leave
 
6.1    Category A administrative staff members in M1 -M2 are eligible to claim either Compensation Leave
         or Allowance for work done on their "Off Day", "Rest Day" and Public Holidays.
6.2    Category A administrative staff members in M1 - M7 are eligible to claim Compensation Leave for
         work done on their "Off Day", "Rest Day" and Public Holidays.
6.3    Academic staff members are eligible to claim for Compensation Leave for performance of official
         duties such as open days, examination invigilation, convocations etc. required by the University on
         their non working day, rest day and public holiday This will not include instances of routine academic
         duties such as replacements of lectures, tutorials, meeting with students/department/faculty/
         university committee meetings, etc.
6.4   The compensation leave shall be treated as follows:
(a)    Minimum of 4 hours or more but less than 8 hours : Half day (1/2) Compensation Leave
(b)    8 hours or more (inclusive of lunch break) : One day (1) Compensation Leave
