International Student Volunteer Portfolio - 2015 Konatsu Hashimoto

Kwansei Gakuin University’s(KGU) volunteer programme enables its sudents to gain practical work experience in developing countries. Students in this programme work in a range of organizations such as offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross, offices of non-governmental organizations conducting activities abroad and educational institutions.

I chose UTAR because, first of all, Malaysia was an attractive place for me to experience work in a multicultural environment. As I am planning to work in an international environment in the future, I believe that this opportunity would definitely help me to enhance my ability to adapt to different cultures.

Besides, I wanted to improve my soft skills, such as a leadership, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. This led to my interest in programmes offered by DSSC, and I wanted to enhance my knowledge and understanding of softskills through conducting and assisting in DSSC programmes. Therefore, UTAR DSSC was the best workplace for me.
